Guide

Verity in your Slack

Your AI teammate in every channel, working from what your company knows in NOAN. She answers, takes in what the team tells her, does the admin, and keeps the facts true. A few minutes to set up; nothing is saved without a person's approval.

What she does

Six things, in plain words

There is one word to learn, fact:, and everything else is a mention. Each capability below works in any channel she has been invited to, within what that channel is allowed to see.

Answers from your facts

Mention her in any channel she is in, or message her directly, and she answers from what the company knows in NOAN and names the topics she used. A channel only ever sees the stacks you let it see.

@Verity what is our refund policy?

Facts from the team

Start a message with fact: and she drafts it as a card: a title, one line, Looks right, Not quite, See full wording. Confirmed cards go to whoever decides that stack. Nothing is saved without a person.

fact: we invoice monthly, in advance

Documents in

Drop a PDF or Word file with a word about it and she extracts the claims into cards for the same review.

Work done in NOAN

Ask for a task, a contact, a note or a reminder and it is done in NOAN, attributed to you, with a daily cap per person. Tag a task on the board with Verity and she works it, asking you one question in Slack when she needs to.

@Verity add a task: send the deck to Priya by Friday

Facts kept true

Say something that contradicts a saved fact and she replies once, offering to draft the update. A thought about a fact becomes a note on it. Facts nobody has looked at in ninety days come back to the owner for a look each week.

Automatic, in any channel where checks are on

Meetings into knowledge

Connect Granola once and every meeting files the people you met as contacts with the memo attached, and proposes facts about the customer in the right channel.

Set up, in order

Five steps, a few minutes

You need a NOAN workspace with a General API key and a Slack workspace you can add apps to. Pick one person to be the owner: they install, connect the key, and decide what is saved unless they delegate.

  1. 01

    Install her

Open the install link as the person who will own approvals and approve the permissions in Slack. Whoever installs and connects is the owner; everyone else just uses Slack and never needs a key.

    slack.getnoan.com/install
  2. 02

    Connect NOAN

In any channel, run the connect command and open the private link she replies with. Paste your NOAN General API key on that page. It is stored encrypted and never shown in Slack; what each channel may see is decided per channel, never by the key.

    /verity connect
  3. 03

    Set up your first channel

Invite Verity to the channel the team works in and mention her with nothing else. The setup form opens: what the channel is for, who decides facts there, and any stacks she must not see. The first save makes it her home channel and switches everything on.

    @Verity

No interviews start. They stay one command away if you want them.

  4. 04

Add her where the team talks

Invite her to any other channel and set it up the same way. Hide the stacks that channel should not see; a channel for one topic can see one stack, a leadership channel can see them all. Scope limits what she reads and shows there, never what the team can contribute. A Slack Connect channel shared with a client or partner works too: she answers in the open, but only for people from your workspace signed in with your company email; the other side reads her answers and cannot trigger her.

    /verity channel
  5. 05

    Tell the team

Post the two lines below in the channel. That is the whole onboarding for everyone else.

Verity is in our Slack. Mention her with a question and she answers from what we know. Start a message with fact: to add a fact about how we work.

Work with clients?

The guide for teams with clients

One channel per client, one stack per client, and the lead on each account decides its facts. Meetings and conversation with a client become that client's knowledge, and nothing crosses between clients.

What to say to her

Plain words, in the channel

@Verity how do we handle a refund after thirty days?
An answer from the facts, with the topics she used.
fact: refunds after thirty days need a director's sign-off
A fact card in the thread; the owner or the delegate for that stack saves it.
@Verity add a contact: Priya Nair, priya@example.com, the buyer at Example
A contact in your NOAN network, attributed to you.
@Verity remind me on Thursday to chase the invoice
A reminder in the same thread on Thursday.
Actually we moved to quarterly invoicing last month
She notices it conflicts with a saved fact and offers to draft the update.
Tag a task on the board with Verity
She works it, asks the owner one question in a DM thread when stuck, and parks it for a person after three attempts.

A good fact is one practice in the present tense, specific enough to act on. "We invoice monthly, in advance" is a fact. "We should tidy up invoicing" is a plan, and she will leave it alone.

The owner's side

Decide once, then delegate

The owner is the person whose approval saves a fact. Everything they need arrives in one direct message, and any of it can be handed to a teammate.

One inbox

A direct message that updates in place with every fact waiting for your decision: Review, Review all, and anything that needs a home.

Delegate a stack

Hand a stack or a topic to a teammate with /verity delegate and they decide and save its facts without you. You still see everything.

Scope per channel

Hide a stack in a channel with /verity scope hide, or for all new channels with /verity scope default hide. Show it again any time.

Shared channels

In a Slack Connect channel she is on by default and answers only your own people; the other organisation reads her replies and cannot ask her anything. /verity shared off keeps her out of a channel; /verity shared on example.com sets your domains.

Pause when you need to

/verity pause stops every write to NOAN until you resume. She still answers from facts. /verity digest on posts a weekly summary of what was saved and by whom.

Optional, whenever you want them: team interviews with /verity start to build or refresh the facts topic by topic, and Partner Briefs to exchange updates with another company on NOAN. The full reference is at slack.getnoan.com/how .

Put Verity in your Slack

Install as the owner, connect your NOAN key once, set up the channel the team works in. The rest is your team talking.
