Use the NOAN skill from Claude and ChatGPT connectors

The skill now recognizes when NOAN is connected as a tool in a chat app and works without a shell or an API key, for builders starting from Claude or ChatGPT.

The quickest way into NOAN for many people is to connect it to Claude or ChatGPT as a connector and point it at the documents they already keep in Google Drive or Notion. The skill used to break on that path: it assumed a shell with NOAN_API_KEY in the environment, so an agent running inside a chat app went looking for a key that did not exist and told the user to open a terminal.

What's new

  • The skill checks the route first. If NOAN tools are already in the tool list, it skips authentication, never asks for a key, and follows a new connector reference.
  • A new references/connector.md maps each REST call to its matching tool and spells out where the connector route differs.
  • first-connect guidance points to the connector variant and names the chat app's own Drive and Notion connectors as a source.

Good to know: on the connector route list_facts returns up to 200 facts with no paging, create_fact caps content at 20,000 characters, and there is no tool that creates stacks or blocks, so first connect has you create the agreed structure in the app. These limits are documented in the reference.

Why it matters

You can now hand the skill to an agent inside Claude or ChatGPT and start loading your business knowledge from the documents you already have, with no terminal in sight. The skill is open source at github.com/getnoan/skills.
