See the source behind a fact
Facts can now carry the URL and quote they came from, shown under the fact, its versions and its change proposals, for everyone who works with NOAN's facts.
Until now a fact stood on its own. You could read what it said, but not where it came from, so checking whether it was still true meant remembering the original page or asking whoever added it.
What's new
- Facts carry their sources. A fact can now hold one or more sources, each a URL with an optional quote.
- Shown where you read the fact. The app displays sources under a fact, under each of its versions, and under a change proposal, so the evidence travels with the fact over time.
- Captured automatically from the web. When NOAN extracts a fact from a URL, it stores the page it crawled as the source.
- For builders: send
sources: [{ url, quote? }]onPOST /v1/facts, on MCPcreate_fact, and through the assistant'supdateFact. Sources come back on REST facts and versions and on MCPlist_facts.
Why it matters
Nothing in NOAN becomes truth until a person verifies it, and verifying is far easier when the evidence is right there. When a teammate questions a number in Proposal or an agent writes a fact from a page it read, you can open the fact and see the exact URL and quote it rests on, instead of retracing the research yourself.
Where to find it
Open any fact to see its sources, or send them on POST /v1/facts. See the API docs at api.getnoan.com.
