New Team Permission Levels

Team Permission Release Image

We've just shipped new permission that enable you to select department based functionality for your team.

What's New:

  • Department-Based Roles: NOAN now supports permission levels tailored to common organizational departments: Owner, Executive, Sales, Marketing, and Creator.
  • Granular Access Control: Assign specific capabilities to each team member based on their role—owners and executives have admin rights, marketing can control knowledge, sales can read but not write, and creators have focused access.
  • Block-Based Permissions: Permissions are set at the knowledge block level. You decide which facts each role can access, edit, or only view.
  • Assistant Access Lockdown: Sensitive information (e.g., salaries) can be restricted from both team members and the AI assistant—if a block isn't shared, it's invisible to them.
  • Roles & Permissions Dashboard: Easily review and manage what each team member can access in the new Roles and Permissions section.

Why it matters:

  • Enhanced Security: Protect sensitive business knowledge by restricting access based on role.
  • Custom Collaboration: Empower teams to work efficiently, giving the right people the right tools and information.
  • Scalable Structure: As your team grows, add new roles and fine-tune permissions to fit evolving needs.

How to Use:

  • Go to Roles and Permissions in your NOAN dashboard.
  • Assign roles to each team member.
  • Select which knowledge blocks each role can access or edit.
